Different Parts of Medicare
Medicare is divided into four parts:
- Part A (hospital coverage)
Medicare Part A offer coverage for inpatient hospital stays care in hospice care, skilled nursing facility, and some home health care.
- Part B (medical coverage)
Medicare Part B provides outpatient coverage including necessary services from a licensed health professional, home health services, emergency ambulance services, screenings and preventive services, and therapy services offered by Medicare-certified therapists.
- Part C (alternate way to receive benefits)
Medicare Part C, also called Medicare Advantage Plan is a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private insurance company along with the existing Medicare plan. Each Medicare Advantage Plan provides all Medicare Part A and B services but with a different set of rules, coverage restrictions, and costs.
- Part D (prescription drug coverage)
Medicare Part D adds prescription drug coverage to outpatient drug prescriptions. It is either offered by private companies as a stand-alone plan or as a set of benefits included with the Medicare Advantage Plan. It consists of a list of covered drugs called formulary. Drugs not on the formulary are not covered by private plans.

Who’s Eligible for Medicare Home Health Care?
Medicare home health care covers all people having Part A and Part B Medicare and fulfills the following conditions:
- The patient must be under the constant care of a doctor
- The doctor must certify that the patient is:
- Under intermittent skilled nursing care
- Speech-language pathology
- A kidney transplant patient
- The patient must be homebound
To be eligible for the Medicare home health care program, the patient’s condition is expected to improve within a predictable time frame. Further, the patient must be working with a skilled therapist to effectively make and perform maintenance program according to his condition.
